SBCC Homeowner Contracts

On 3 June 2011 SBCC launched an updated Homeowner Contract (with and without Consultant). These contracts can be obtained by downloading from the home page of our website.The cost is £20 + VAT.

Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010

The Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010 comes into force on 7 June 2010.  For contracts entered into prior to that date the Act does not apply.  
For all contracts entered into from 8 June 2010 the new Act applies.

At the moment all Scottish Building Contracts produced by SBCC currently make reference to the Arbitration Code.  Obviously the Act will take preference over the Code and SBCC will be issuing an amendment sheet in due course to reflect the introduction of the new Act.

Terrorism Cover Update - Issued August 2010

SBCC's Works Insurance provisions have been updated in relation to Terrorism Cover and the Contractor's liability for loss or damage to the Works or Site Materials resulting from terrorism in cases where Insurance Option A applies.
